College Media Collaborative

Together, we have the power to inform broader audiences, share new perspectives, and paint more complete pictures of the issues students across Utah care about most. The Utah College Media Collaborative is a cross-campus initiative that unites emerging journalists from student-led newsrooms at Utah’s public colleges and universities. Through this partnership, student reporters work together to produce in-depth journalism, exchange ideas, and create a collaborative model for the future of college media.

Each year, the collaborative explores a pressing societal issue through a dedicated theme. Past projects have tackled topics such as Guns and College Campuses, Democracy Day, and Gen Z Beyond the Screen. This year’s theme continues the tradition of insightful storytelling, with student journalists from Salt Lake Community College, Southern Utah University, the University of Utah, Utah Tech University, and Weber State University joining forces to report on critical issues from multiple perspectives.

The Utah College Media Collaborative is an Amplify Utah project with support from PBS Utah, reinforcing the mission of elevating student journalism and fostering meaningful dialogue across campuses and communities.
