Guns and College Campus
The first Utah College Media Collaborative launched with the theme "Guns and College Campuses," tackling a critical issue affecting students statewide. Amid rising gun violence and shifting firearm policies, this historic cross-campus project united emerging journalists from Salt Lake Community College, the University of Utah, Utah State University, and Weber State University to examine the complexities of gun laws, campus safety, and student perspectives. Supported by PBS Utah and Amplify Utah, the collaborative provided in-depth, multimedia coverage to inform and engage broader audiences, setting the stage for future student journalism partnerships.
