Voices of Utah: Covering Women's Sports
Women's sports have fundamentally transformed athletics, and in Spring 2025, Voices of Utah students documented this revolution across Utah's communities. Caitlin Clark's record-breaking basketball career, Ilona Maher's rugby prominence, 92,000 volleyball fans, and two billion World Cup viewers signaled a powerful shift in sports culture. These weren't isolated events but evidence of permanent change.
Journalism students at the University of Utah illuminated this transformation through profiles and enterprise stories amplifying the voices of Utah's female athletes, coaches and others connected to women’s sports. Through collaborations with Amplify Utah and KRCL 90.9, these emerging journalists refined their multimedia skills while bringing vital narratives to light. This immersive capstone experience bridged classroom concepts with community impact, elevating women's voices and producing substantial journalism. Discover the stories redefining athletics in Utah.
